FANS IN TEARS: Alex Cora suspends Lucas Giolito for allegations and terminates his of $4.9 million contract.

The Boston Red Sox destroyed the 2018 World Series champions immediately after the trophy was lifted, notably in the outfield.

By 2021, Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr., and Andrew Benintendi have all moved on to other teams in the hopes of improving the squad.

Boston now has only a few trade pieces from the swap for their once-dominant outfield. This weekend, the Red Sox released right-handed pitcher Luis De La Rosa.

De La Rosa was one of the five pieces the Sox received in exchange for moving Benintendi to the Royals in 2021, and he is the third player that is no longer with the organization. Franchy Cordero had 132 big-league appearances for Boston before leaving in free agency, while outfield prospect Freddy Valdez never advanced beyond the Florida Complex League with the Red Sox.

De La Rosa is coming off an intriguing 2023 campaign with Single-A Salem. The 21-year-old has a 2.94 ERA in 70.1 innings, with 88 strikeouts and 40 walks. His ERA improved significantly from his 2022 stats with Salem, despite just pitching 34 innings for the club that year. De La Rosa had a 4.72 ERA in Single-A but a 1.26 ERA in the Florida Complex League after 14.1 innings.
