BREAKING NEWS: Boston Red Sox head coach Alex Cora has canceled a contract valued around $450.000 million.

The Boston Red Sox will play a split squad game today, with Brayan Bello facing the Washington Nationals and Nick Pivetta facing the Tampa Bay Rays. The Red Sox are 4-3 in Grapefruit League play heading into today’s games. Connor Wong is back behind the plate today and will catch Bello against the Nationals, while Triston Casas makes his spring debut at first base.

Giolito made his second start of the spring Wednesday, both against the Minnesota Twins. He suffered the loss yesterday, allowing four runs on two hits in 2.1 innings, walking three and striking out one. He looked strong in his debut start, pitching two innings without allowing a run or a hit while walking one and striking out one. His record after two starts is presently 0-1, with an 8.31 ERA, a 1.38 WHIP, and two strikeouts in 4.1 innings.

Jarren Duran made his spring debut yesterday, going 0–2 with a strikeout. His first at bat resulted in a flyout to left field. Ceddanne Rafaela continued to impress at camp, appearing in five games and recording a four-game hitting streak. Rafaela is hitting.364 with a.988 OPS, and he has one double, one RBI, one run scored, two stolen bases, and three walks. Rafaela’s play is putting him in contention to be the Red Sox’s starting center fielder on Opening Day.
